As the mornings and evenings begin to turn colder Autumn is definitely in the air! The hens are going to bed earlier as the nights start to draw in but we’re still enjoying the last of the summer sun, with the small animals basking in the mid day warmth. The goats have passed their TB test and the hens are laying some beautiful eggs – why not pop down and pick up a box!
Saturday is the start of British Food Fortnight and we’ll be celebrating everything that makes British food great! We’re especially lucky here at Betty’s to have a wide range of local produce, with minimum food miles. All our meat is, of course, British, with all our pork and lamb home reared at our sister farm in the Peak District. We use slow maturing, native breeds to give the best in quality and flavour. Ashley and his butchery team would love to tell you more!
As we look ahead we have some happy half term events planned. Abi’s Entertainments will be joining us to host a ‘Reptiles and Rocks’ session on Sat. 26th and Sun. 27th October, giving the chance to meet and handle a variety of reptiles and take part in some reptile inspired crafts. £10 per child, booking available via http://www.abis-entertainments.co.uk. They are also hosting a Halloween arts and crafts session on Wed. 30th Oct. at 11am. Tickets for this are £6 and children can choose their favourite activities, such as paper crafts, sand arts, sun catchers, scratch art and salt dough.
It might seem a long way ahead now but with less than 100 days until Christmas planning is well under way! Christmas order forms are now available from the farm shop and are also available to download from the ‘Farmshop’ section of our website at http://www.bettysfarmshop.co.uk/
This year we will be holding a Christmas Shopping Evening on Tuesday 12th November, with 10% off for loyalty card holders- so if you haven’t already got a loyalty card sign up now!
Our Christmas Market will be on Sunday 1st December and is a great start to the festive season – we hope to see you there!
